CASE STUDY · CORPORATE AWAY DAY
From Strategy Session to The Challenge
RUMA Events was appointed by an organisation within the insurance and financial technology sector to source a London venue for a 13-person corporate away day.
The brief brought together two very different parts of the day: focused business discussions in the morning, followed by an interactive team experience in the afternoon.

THE BRIEF
One Day. Two Very Different Requirements.
The client wanted to take the team out of its usual working environment without losing the productive focus of a strategy day.
A conventional meeting room would have solved only half the brief.
The venue needed to provide a professional private setting for presentations and discussion, while also offering something engaging enough to completely change the pace later in the day.
The Client Needed
A Distinctive London Venue
A setting with more personality than a standard meeting room, while remaining suitable for a professional corporate event.
Private Space for 13 Colleagues
A dedicated environment for strategy presentations, planning and focused team discussion.
Team Building in the Same Location
An interactive experience that could follow the working session without requiring the group to travel elsewhere.
Business and Hospitality Combined
A full-day format incorporating the meeting, team activity, food and drinks.
WHAT RUMA DELIVERED
Finding One Venue That Could Change Gear
RUMA Events focused the venue search around the full agenda rather than sourcing a meeting room and team-building experience separately.
The challenge was identifying a London venue that could provide the privacy and functionality required for the morning, then transition into something much more interactive later in the day.
By bringing both elements together in one place, the event became simpler to organise and more cohesive for the team attending.
1
Venue Research
Researching London venues capable of supporting both a private corporate strategy session and an engaging team-building experience.
2
Accommodation & Hospitality
Presenting several suitable options based on the group size, required format, London location and budget considerations.
3
Venue Booking Coordination
Arranging the venue hire requirements for the team’s private morning session and subsequent THE CUBE experience.
4
Hospitality Coordination
Coordinating the food and drinks package alongside the wider booking so the full day could take place within one venue.
THE EVENT
Business First. Competition Later.
Held on Friday 10 July 2026, the event brought together 13 colleagues for a day that deliberately shifted in tone as it progressed.
The morning began with private use of the venue for presentations, strategy and business planning.
Once the working session finished, the emphasis changed completely.
The team moved into THE CUBE’s interactive challenges, testing skill, judgement and teamwork through a series of competitive experiences.
Food and drinks were incorporated into the day, giving the group time to socialise around both the working and activity elements.
The event created a clear division between productive business time and relaxed team interaction without the disruption of changing venues.
The CUBE, London
THE CUBE offered an unusual solution to the brief because the experience itself formed part of the venue.
Inspired by the television format, its interactive challenges provided the afternoon activity without requiring a separate supplier or off-site experience.
The venue also provided private space for the morning strategy session, allowing the same location to support two very different parts of the programme.
For the client, this meant less travel, fewer logistical moving parts and a much more natural transition from business into team building.
The Result
One Venue. Two Sides of the Team Day.
A 13-person away day combining strategy, hospitality and interactive team building
The client reported that the team had been very pleased with the event and that the overall experience had gone smoothly.
The day successfully combined a focused private business session with a much more relaxed and competitive afternoon.
