CASE STUDY · INTERNATIONAL CORPORATE RETREAT
Strategy With Lake Como Outside the Window
RUMA Events was appointed by an organisation within the investment and financial technology sector to source and help organise a three-night corporate retreat on the shores of Lake Como.
The brief was about balance: productive strategy sessions, comfortable accommodation and enough of the destination to make the time away feel genuinely different from the office.

THE BRIEF
A Retreat That Needed to Feel Like a Destination
The client wanted to bring 18 colleagues together for four days and three nights, combining strategic business discussions with time to explore Lake Como.
The hotel needed to work equally well as a professional base and as part of the retreat experience itself, with meeting facilities, comfortable accommodation and easy access to the destination.
The Client Needed
A Well-Located Lake Como Hotel
A central base that made it easy for the team to access the lakefront, town and surrounding experiences.
Accommodation for 18 Guests
A three-night stay with the full group comfortably accommodated together.
Dedicated Meeting Facilities
Professional space for strategy sessions without requiring a separate business venue.
Access to the Destination
A setting that made it easy to combine working time with cultural exploration and outdoor experiences.
WHAT RUMA DELIVERED
Building the Retreat Around the Destination
RUMA Events approached the brief by looking beyond accommodation alone.
The venue search focused on hotels that could support productive working sessions while also giving the team easy access to Lake Como itself.
Alongside the hotel search, RUMA researched experiences and transport options to help the client build a programme that felt relaxed, varied and connected to the destination.

THE EVENT
Work, Explore, Repeat
Held from 15–18 June 2026, the retreat brought together 18 colleagues for four days and three nights of strategy, exploration and shared experience.
Dedicated working sessions took place at the Palace Hotel, giving the team focused time together without leaving their accommodation.
Outside those sessions, the programme opened out into Lake Como.
A guided tour introduced the group to the destination, while water sports brought a more active element to the stay.
The retreat deliberately avoided a heavily structured team-building format.
Instead, the combination of business sessions, exploration and shared experiences created more natural opportunities for colleagues to spend time together away from their usual working environment.
Palace Hotel, Lake Como
The Palace Hotel offered the combination of location, accommodation and meeting facilities the brief required.
Situated in the heart of Como and opposite the lakefront, the hotel gave the group convenient access to both the historic town and the surrounding destination.
Its dedicated meeting spaces meant the strategy programme could remain within the hotel, while the central location made it easy to move into leisure and cultural experiences once the working sessions finished.
For this retreat, the setting did more than accommodate the group.
It helped create the rhythm of the event.
The Result
4 Days. 3 Nights. One Successful International Offsite.
An 18-person retreat combining strategy, cultural exploration and shared experiences on Lake Como.
The client reported that the offsite had been a complete success, with the team extremely impressed by the overall experience.
The retreat balanced productive working time with enough freedom to enjoy the destination, without relying on a heavily structured team-building programme.
