THE BRIEF
A Professional Event Without the Corporate Feel
The event formed part of an ongoing programme of gatherings across multiple cities, with the format centred around roundtable discussion, networking and hospitality.
For Cardiff, the client wanted the venue itself to add something to the experience.
The challenge was finding a space with enough prestige and architectural character to feel memorable, without sacrificing the AV, meeting setup and hospitality required for a professional event.
The Client Needed
Central Cardiff Location
A well-positioned venue that was practical for guests while placing the event firmly within the city.
Capacity for 20–22 Guests
An intimate setting suitable for focused roundtable discussion and professional conversation.
Corporate Facilities Without a Corporate Setting
Appropriate meeting facilities and AV within a venue that felt more distinctive than a standard conference room.
Space for Networking and Hospitality
A setting that could transition naturally from the formal roundtable into drinks, catering and more relaxed conversation.
WHAT RUMA DELIVERED
Finding Character Without Compromising Functionality
RUMA Events focused the search on venues that could offer both a strong visual identity and the practical infrastructure required for the event.
Rather than simply presenting central Cardiff meeting spaces, the shortlist considered how each venue would influence the atmosphere of the roundtable, reception and wider guest experience.
The aim was to find a setting that felt specific to Cardiff rather than interchangeable with a corporate venue in any other city.

THE EVENT
Serious Conversation in an Unexpected Setting
Held on 19 October 2026, the event brought together 22 guests for an afternoon and evening of professional discussion, networking and hospitality.
The programme began with a corporate roundtable, creating space for attendees to exchange ideas, share perspectives and engage in focused industry conversation.
Once the structured discussion concluded, the event transitioned into a drinks reception and evening catering.
That change of pace allowed conversations to continue more informally while guests remained within the same striking environment.
The museum surroundings added another layer to the event, making the gathering feel very different from a conventional hotel or conference venue.
National Museum, Cardiff
National Museum Cardiff offered the sense of occasion the brief demanded.
Its grand architecture, classical columns and striking interior created an immediate visual impact, while the venue remained capable of supporting the practical requirements of a professional gathering.
The event took place within the museum’s main hall, where the surrounding architecture and prominent mammoth exhibit gave guests a backdrop they were unlikely to forget.
For a relatively intimate event of 22 people, choosing a venue of this character helped the occasion feel significant without requiring a large-scale production.
The Result
22 Guests in One of Cardiff’s Landmark Venues
A corporate roundtable and networking reception in a setting with genuine character and presence.
The event successfully combined focused professional discussion with drinks, catering and networking within one distinctive central Cardiff venue.
The client gave extremely positive feedback following the event, highlighting the beauty of the venue and how well the occasion had gone.
